I'm having some issues with a barcode scanner I'm using in a web application calld Aura, specifically designed for school libraries.
Please try to do the following: use 'Tools-Internet Options' Internet Explorer main menu item. Then open 'Privacy' tab (arrow 1 on the image) and uncheck 'Disable toolbars and extensions when InPrivate Browsing starts' checkbox (arrow 2 on the image). If above instructions do not help, please read additional instructions here. I was able to disable file download popup in all popular browsers except Internet Explorer. This is the popup: I thought this would do it, but I still get the popup: Internet Explorer - menu To.
Every time a barcode is scanned IE9 will open it's download manager after which the user has to close it manually, which is completely unnecessary. In other browsers (Firefox, Google Chrome) this happens as well, but with their download manager.
I would to disable the Download Manager in Internet Explorer. It is of absolutely no value to me and just gets in the way. When I'm at work and giving a PowerPoint presentation in slide-show mode and click on a link to a document in SharePoint, my audience gets to see the damn Download Manager instead of displaying the document that I want to show.
- Microsoft makes it possible to disable all downloads in Internet Explorer. To do so, open Internet Explorer browser and navigate the mouse cursor to the ‘Tools’ menu. Next, choose ‘Internet.

IE9 is used most frequently at the company I work at (sad enough :/), so this browser is the only one that has priority when it comes to fixing this issue.
So in short, is there a way to prevent IE9's download manager from popping up?
Thanks!

Ie Download Manager Plugin
Yes you can. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2678934 Be aware though that 'assoc .pdf' may return .pdf=AcroExch.Document.11, whereas in my case I had to add AcroPDF.PDF.1 to the reg key.
